Black and proud is an exhibition of photographs and visual works designed and directed by Wilgis Agossa, artistic director of Black and proud. Through a strong and committed artistic approach, the exhibition aims to highlight Afro-descendants, their stories, their legacies and their plural identities.

This year, Black and proud gives a central place to the Afro-descended youth, featuring voices that speak lucidly, courageously, and creatively on issues surrounding Black history. The works presented question memory, silences, past and present struggles, while affirming a vision that looks to the future.

The theme « Stand up » embodies a powerful gesture: to stand up to history, to refuse to be erased, to claim one's dignity and to affirm one's place. To stand is to resist, to get up, to transmit and to create. Through portraits, paintings, and visual compositions, the exhibition celebrates the pride, resilience, and collective strength of a community that continues to assert itself and tell its story through art.

Black and proud is thus intended to be a space for dialogue, education, recognition and affirmation, where art becomes an act of memory, speaking out and emancipation.
